Herewith the Minutes for February 08, 2022 meeting. The Washington County Senior Softball League (WCSSL) convened for a scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday February 08, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM. The meeting was held at Wacohu Grange Hall, 16412 National Pike, Hagerstown, MD. The following Board members were in attendance: President-AJ Nicolosi, Vice President-Butch Hess, Secretary/Webmaster-Mark Plumley, and League Manager-Bob Thomas. (Treasurer, Tommy Hyme was absent) 23 additional league members were in attendance this evening. The President, AJ commenced the meeting at 6:00 PM and had the Secretary read the January minutes. The League Secretary, Plumley read the January 11, 2022 Minutes. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Ray Smitley and Seconded. The Minutes were accepted as written. President-AJ explained that we have recently updated our league rules and they along with the league bat policy have been placed up on our website. He encouraged members to review and familiarize themselves with the few changes that were made. He also pointed out that there is a list with the website link for current illegal bats. He brought a list from that website and offered to the members to review. AJ advised that new softballs were being looked at and JT provided an update. Dicks Sporting Goods can provide the "Hot Dot" ball and JT and Frank were given some balls that he brought to the meeting for all to observe. JT stated that the league would have to submit our request as soon as possible to obtain rebates and offers. The Treasurer-Tommy could not be in attendance and no treasury report was provided at this meeting. Vice President-Butch suggested to the members to reach out to friends and family to join our league. League Manager Bob Thomas was asked for any input and he went over each rule change that was made and emphasized the reason to change these rules was to clarify and illiminate any misinterpretations. Short discussions were had on some of the changes. - Bob mentioned that our league fundraiser with Stonebridge Pizzeria continues until the end of the month and that this Thursday, February 10th is a bonus day for ALL customers to give back to the league. Unfinished Business: President-AJ looked into whether or not Halfway Parks had a curfew and there is one at 11:00 PM. He stated that the lights will be set to come on at a preset time and to shut off due to a local ordinance for that neighborhood. He has not received any update on the tarps for our league. New Business: - Ray Smitley provided a proposal to have Cumberland Valley league teams come play games against WCSSL teams during our off nights. They would not be part of our schedule. He also invited our teams to go up and play games against CV on their fields. Discussions were had and one main drawback to this proposal, was teams in need of players on their off nights would not have those WCSSL players available. AJ suggested that one way around this, would be to just have CV players register and play in our league. This proposal is up for further discussion at a later date. - Steven Ryne volunteered to manage or coach a team if one becomes available. All dependent on volume of registrants. - The members were reminded that our upcoming Bonanza will be held at the Boonsboro American Legion on April 16, and that JT has tickets available. The next scheduled meeting is proposed for March 08, 2022. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM.
